To get to Holbox you have to fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN). We highly recommend arranging for a shuttle or car to pick you up from the airport in advance. They are approximately $100-$120 per person round trip depending on how many people join in your group. It includes the 2.25 hour car ride, the ferry tickets and the golf cart tickets to the hotel.

The shuttle driver will take you to Chiuitas where you will take a ferry to the island. From there, a golf cart will pick you up and take you straight to the hotel.

The hotel rooms vary in price, but they will cost you $250-$280 a night.

The hotel is called Las Nubes. It’s on the north side of the island, about 25 min away from the city square, and 1 hour walking from the ferry (definitely want to take a golf cart!).

Nope! Please do not rent a car, you will not be able to drive it to the island. If you have plans before or after to go to Tulum or Playa Del Carmin, then rent a car from Cancun Airport. You will still need to hire a shuttle to the island from the airport either way.

The hotel is giving us special rates, and if you’d like to stay at the hotel longer then just let us know! Their rates for us are $288-$394 per night depending on the room type.

Good question! Isla Holbox is a dream for both people who like doing things and people who like doing nothing on the beach. You can go on a tour to see whale-sharks, bioluminescence, cenotes, as well as scuba dive and snorkel! Scuba diving usually happens closer to Cozumel.
